Develop routines to help you get in the zone.
The use of routine is one of the most widespread
practices among elite softball players. They perform
routines before games, between innings and between
pitches at the plate and on the field. A routine
integrates both the mental and the physical aspects.
It is a specific way of doing things to stay focus,
block distraction and put you in the ideal mindset.
Routines are powerful and you should definitely use
them. |

Tee Drills - Rhythm Drill.
Players love this drill. We do this drill in the
cage and at times make a contest to see who can hit
the most balls up the middle – hitting a target
we’ve placed on the backstop. Place the tee
approximately 10 feet in front of a line of players.
A coach may sit on a bucket close to the tee to keep
the drill moving by always having a ball placed on
top of the tee. Players will approach the tee and
walk themselves into their batting stance while
swinging. This drill creates some rhythm and a
non-stop motion that propels their hands forward
into the hitting zone. The drill is constantly
moving and also provides good feedback for contact
points. |
